Green Tara is an importer and wholesaler of the finest handmade and milled mulberry papers, beautiful ribbons and associated high quality products. We are well known for our paper flowers and other embellishments and we are constantly adding to our range with carefully sourced products.
Paper Crafts are all about the paper and Green Tara provides papers with rich colours, wonderful textures and beautiful patterns. We sell our paper in sheets; scrapbook 12″ x 12″ sheets, A4 and in co-ordinated craft packs.
Our growing business has given work to many villagers in the area where the paper is made. Mulberry paper (or saa paper, as it is called in Thailand) is made from the bark of the mulberry tree, which peels from the trunk at the end of each rainy season. This means you are buying an ecologically friendly product because no trees are cut down to make the paper. The bark is pulped and spread onto large racks to dry (see above picture). It is then used to make various products, including the Green Tara petals and flowers which are all hand made.
All our mulberry paper items are bleached without the use of chlorine, they’re acid and lignin free and they’re dyed with non-toxic, natural dyes wherever possible.
You may have wondered about the name Green Tara. Green Tara is a popular female Buddhist deity of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. She is compassionate, wise and a nurturing mother figure. Since Buddhism is the primary religion in the region where our beautiful papers are made, we thought it an appropriate and inspiring name. Many women are employed in the making of our papers and flowers, which are then used by many creative women around the world.
